Tivoli Gardens
Copenhagen, Denmark
Founded in 1843, the second oldest amusement park in the world!

From the outside most of what you see of Tivoli is large amusement rides and you can hear the children laughing and screaming from the joy of the rides. The park takes up an entire city block and is surrounded by a 8ft high solid brick wall.
Honestly, my first thought was, "I don't really want to go see an amusement park." trust me, that would have been a huge mistake.
We saved Tivoli until our last day. So many friends kept urging us to Tivoli, we took the plunge.
You pay a fee to enter the park and then you buy tickets for the rides once inside. Perfect for us because we weren't going to ride anything and just wanted to see the park.  I believe our tickets were around $16 ea, U.S.

The best way I can describe Tivoli is that it is an amusement park, a garden, a concert venue all rolled into one. And the grounds are so elegant. They have a cookie and champagne shop. a steak restaurant  plus many more and of course all the kiddie food of cotton candy and candy and more candy and sodas a child could desire. Those kid foods are over on the amusement park side. We had a coffee and snack in a very elegant sidewalk cafe where other families were meeting friends and sharing a nice snack, coffee and moment. So the activity of the amusement park is away from the elegant inner courtyard area. So nice to sit and enjoy the gardens and nice day without running around or having the bling of carnival games in your ear.

We did not stay until closing but Tivoli has an amazing fireworks display (On the Saturday night we were in town) It was spectacular, we heard and then watched from our hotel. I would highly recommend Tivoli if you are in Copenhagen. We spent a lovely few hours there and it truly was something special to see.

Happy Travels friends.
And don't miss Tivoli if you ever are in town.
