The "Heap Burning Coals" verse revisited.

We are studying the fruit of the Spirit with Beth Moore in Bible study this semester.

The burning coals verse (Proverbs 25 21-22) came up again.
Beth is discussing this verse in reference to agape love.

We respond kindly to our enemies by showing agape love.
Love to the enemy?
Well, we perform acts of kindness toward our enemy.
We can agape.
We can pour out that kind of love to our Lord.
Why?
It is a fruit of the Spirit meaning He empowers us to show this kind of love.
And what happens?
He will reward us.
This love is supernatural yet reaps a great reward.
Once again,
opposite of our natural inclination (that's where the Holy Spirit comes in.)
We could seek revenge but is that what we are to pursue in this life?
Are we to seek coming out on top just because we can?
No.
So often in the Christian life we are called to do the total
OPPOSITE
of what our flesh and self want to do.
If we can embrace the Holy Spirit to work through us
we can
AGAPE
love one another
and even
our enemy.
Remember, when we are giving out those cups of cold water to our enemy
the surrounding angels are watching
and
others  (maybe even non-Christians) are watching.
Are others drawn to Christ because of our agape love?
